Dear Friend,

One in every five Americans is affected by a disability that impacts vision, hearing, mobility, mental development or ability to learn.  This translates into 54 million people striving to gain greater independence within their communities. 

Nearly 70 percent of adults with disabilities between the ages of 18 and 64 are unemployed while more than two-thirds of these adults with disabilities say that they would prefer to be working.

Michael’s Place is a non-profit 501(c)3 public service corporation organized in the state of Oregon, with IRS tax exempt status, where people who are disadvantaged or developmentally disabled can come to enjoy the Shetland pony and miniature horse through work and play.

We are dedicated to helping people who are disadvantaged or with special needs grow through safe, challenging, creative and fun experiences that enhance mobility, self-confidence and socialization.

Michael’s Place is located on five acres in rural Beaverton, Oregon.  Howard Stables has graciously donated their facility (which includes an indoor arena and show barn and a separate barn) to this unique job based program caring for over 60 miniature horses, Shetland ponies and full size horses.

To realize the Michael’s Place vision, we must successfully reach our fundraising goals each year.  Our program fees do not cover the cost of operating the facility.  As a non-profit, we rely on the generosity of friends to make up the difference.  And so, we find the purpose of the first annual Oregon Invitational Shetland Pony and Miniature Horse Show.  By becoming a sponsor in our show, you will be helping to continue Michael’s Place mission:  to be non-profit, to promote the recreational and therapeutic benefits between horse and handler, to serve the whole family, and to continue to explore better ways of serving the children and their families.

We have provided you with a variety of sponsorship opportunities and hope that one of them meets your needs.  All proceeds will go to support Michael’s Place, a non-profit organization, that allows persons with special needs to learn important life skills while enjoying the companionship of miniature horses and Shetland ponies.  To learn more about this wonderful organization go to www.michaelsplace.org.
